The Rise of Cobra International Trailer for GI Joe

I can remember my first exposure to the GI Joe action figure line when I was a kid about 5 or 6 years old or so. There was another kid down near where we lived that my brother and I befriended who had some of the original GI Joes, the only ones that were out then. We played with them a bit and were hooked.

The GI Joe movie is the modern story of “GI Joe vs Cobra”. The characters were created by Hasbro about 25 years ago and are popular among rabid followers today. The basis of the story is that the Duke led GI Joe team will “fight for freedom wherever there is trouble” against the evil terrorist, Cobra Commander and his army of Cobra fighters.

“G.I. Joe” stars Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, Channing Tatum, Ray Park and Christopher Eccleston.
Paramount will premiere G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra in theaters on August 7th 2009.

I’m Torn on Gung Ho, GI Joe’s Team Marine

Gung Ho is GI Joe’s team Marine. I was always torn on this figure as I never did care for the uniform that Hasbro elected to put him in. The whole baby blue camouflage and soft Jay Lenno looking chin kinda had me picturing him as a big pansy in a soft looking out fit.

I guess if I was lying in a trench somewhere pour down fire against an enemy and Gung Ho came jumping out from behind a bush to kick my arse, I’d probably get bayoneted by him as I laughed at his baby blue vest and camis.

The comic pack Gung Ho and Cobra Commander in the battle armor was a good job in my opinion. I like the more militaristic looking drab he’s wearing but he’s still got the weird looking baby face and stalker mustache. I guess that’s just the way it is.

I took some snapshots of the two different versions of the GI Joe 25th anniversary Gung Ho side by side so you can compare. I’d appreciate the comments and thoughts on these guys.

GI Joe Snake Eyes History Mute

Like most GI Joes fans, I find the Snake Eyes action figure very cool. But, until much later in my life, I’d never actually read any of the GI Joe Snake Eyes History Mute. Snake Eyes has a very cool and realistic history. Larry Hama did an excellent job on creating the storyline for this character.GI Joe Snake Eyes History Mute

I have summed up a bit of the Snake Eyes history for you to take a look at. I enjoyed writing this and have a bit more to go. Please enjoy it and shoot me your comments.

Do You Have a GI Joe Raider?

Most GI Joe fans are very familiar with the GI Joe Raider and it’s evil driver, Copperhead. I am glad to present Copperhead and the GI Joe Raider here at the GI Joe blog!GI Joe Raider

Why the GI Joe Raider?

Cobra created the Sting Raider to enable them the ability to establish bases deep within murky waters giving them the advantage of hidden bayou stations that are secretly stashed away. This is the operating procedure of Cobra and the Sting Raider makes that happen.

The hull of the GI Joe Raider is made extrememly tough to take on impact with rocks and swamp logs or branches when moving at high speeds through the bayou. This is a tough machine.

GI Joe Raider CopperheadEven tougher are the cannons and automatic lead slinging guns that will blast any G.I. JOE water vehicle crazy enough to nose its prow in the home turf of the STING RAIDER. Imagine the guns on this GI Joe Raider blasting the hell out of a Joe water machine in the middle of the night. This would be a fireworks display worth seeing.

Another unique fact about the GI Joe Raider is that it’s powerful V12 engine was designed by Destro himself. This engine allows for stealthy crusing or rapid speed pursuits.

The deck of the Sting Raider can hold more crew for a marine based assault or an amphibious attack.

GI Joe Raider - A Bit About Copperhead

Copperhead lived fast and dangerous before joining up with Cobra. As a matter of fact, he lived so wrecklessly that he became deep in debt to his bookies and had to escape that lifestyle and did so by joing Cobra.Cobra Copperhead - GI Joe Raider

The evil Cobra terrorist organization payed off Copperhead’s debts and he gladly joined the ranks.

It is presumed that this jumgle and swamp warrior grew up in the Florida everglades. I wonder if he is a Jeb Bush supported? He surely couldn’t be liked by the Bush family as Cobra certainly falls under the axis of evil!

I’ve got both the GI Joe Raider, formally know as the Cobra Sting Raider for sale as well as the Copperhead and Shipwreck Comic pack; which comes with a very good comic book if you’re a collector like me.

GI Joe Most Dangerous Thing in the World

One of my favorite GI Joe cartoon episodes was “GI Joe Most Dangerous Thing in the World”. I guess I liked this one so much as a kid becuase of the reality of the episode; not that I knew too much about reality at a young age.GI Joe Most Dangerous Thing in the World

GI Joe Most Dangerous Thing in the World is basically about Cobra hacking into the Defense Department and promoting Life Line, Dial Tone and Shipwreck to full colonels. Why would Cobra do such a thing? What benefits would this give the Cobra evil-doers?

GI Joe Most Dangerous Thing in the World

So, check out GI Joe Most Dangerous Thing in the World, and let me know what you think about it. Or comment below about it if you’ve already seen it. I am eager to here from any military vets or current service members what they think about the comparison to reality.

GI Joe Clear Wraith; What’s all the Ruckus About?!

What is it about the GI Joe clear Wraith variant that is driving the locals mad? I don’t know for sure, but I know that I have stumbled upon one by accident after spending more money than I want to admit on GI Joe action figures.GI Joe Clear Wraith

Now, I must admit that I really really like the GI Joe Wraith action figure. He is definitely a cool figure and I have yet to honestly read into his storyline and tie-in to the GI Joe world. I’m sure it is very interesting.

I’ve seen big offers over at HISS tank for a clear Wraith but definitely can’t part with mine regardless of my massive investment into GI Joe figures. I guess I’ll just cut my losses.

There aren’t any good GI Joe clear Wraith pics out the so I guess I’ll have to snap a few to add to this post. Please come back and give me your two cents on them. Also, I would love to know a little more about the Wraith story line or what you folks think he’s all about. Please comment and let us all know.

I finally wondered onto a clear Wraith image for you folks to check out. I will take a few more pictures in the future to add to this post.

The New Improved Super In Your Face Blow Out Grand Opening GI Joe Store is Open!

After much cursing, reading, cursing, trial and error, the GI Joe store is now open. That is, the new and improved GI Joe store. I have dived into coding a little bit and took a stab at coding my own store, with the help of Google Merchant for the backend shopping cart.

I can honestly say that I enjoyed doing this and am excited about it. It looks good, although still needs a bit of a face-lift. The inventory is mostly full besides the vehicles and the comic packs and actually a few waves of the Gi Joes singles that I need to add. However, this will be done over the next few days time permitting.

I would appreciate all input on the store. Let me know what you think about it. Its totally database based. Does that make sense? In other words, its dynamic. I enter the infomation into a database and all of my GI Joe figures are spit out into cool looking pages.

With this done, I will have more time to commit to the blog and an entry every couple of days. Well, this is a must being that this is the method to draw in my customers to seal the deal in the store. At least, that’s the idea.

Now that I’m getting this coding stuff down a bit, stay tuned for a bit more interactivity. I’m dying to get your input on the GI Joe action figures that are coming out, especially the Resolute stuff. These figures look great! I do have them in stock and will get them added, as far as wave 13.

Check it out here. GI Joe Store

Take care, and let me know what you think about the store.Technorati Tags:
