GI Joe Toys Blowtorch - I Remember Not Liking This One at All

GI Joes BlowtorchI remember when my cousin got GI Joe Toys Blowtorch. I didn’t like that action figure at all. I mean, what kind of soldier runs around in a bright yellow and orange suit. The enemy would have an easy target and he’d be belly down, full of holes on the battlefield within the first few shots of contact with the enemy.

How dare I forget, this is not your common soldier, this is GI Joes Flamethrower, Blowtorch. GI Joes don’t get shot full of holes on the battle field. They may take a rough bump on the head and get knocked unconscious, or get blown 100 yards in an explosion, but they never get shot full of holes. I can’t believe that I actually imagined that.

Blowtorch has a couple of code names according to his file card; Pyro and Hot-Foot. He is super-paranoid about fire; which I guess a fire expert would be. He’s made a life of studying fire and all the damage it can do to buildings, vegetation and other objects. He knows fire like we know GI Joes action figures.

Tidbit of GI Joes knowledge. Blowtorch cannot sleep unless he’s near a smoke detector.

The GI Joes Blowtorch action figure had three variations; which all have about the same value.

  • His face can have dark or light eyebrows.

  • The earlier version had a stiff, hard green plastic flamethrower. The later version of this GI Joes action figure had a softer, more durable plastic flamethrower.
  • His helmet either comes with holes or without them; neither more rare than the other.

The holes in the helmet are assumed to be a product run that was stopped. You will find it difficult to attach a visor from the 1982 GI Joes action figures to his helmet.

The mint on card value of this GI Joes action figure is about $120. The mint loose figure is worth about $15.

The Upcoming GI Joes Have Got me a Bit Excited

Out of the upcoming GI Joes, I’m absolutely leaning towards Sgt. Airborne. He’s definitely be my favorite GI Joe fo this line. As for Cobra, I’m going to have to put my money on Cobra Eel. This is a rough looking guy and would not want to meet him on a late night fishing trip anytime soon.

GI Joes Action Figure Reference for the 25th Anniversary GI Joes and Beyond - The Muster Room

My newest project is going to be an interactive GI Joes reference page within this website where I will create a list of all of the current 25th Anniversary GI Joes and tons of graphics and images to go along with them.

The interactive part of this GI Joes reference page is going to be a bit of a task and will entail so ongoing tweaks and development. The idea is for you to be able to submit images and information, preferably photos from your own GI Joes collection, to the website and they will pop-up immediately for all to see and use.

This area of the website is going to be known as The Muster Room. The Muster Room will be organized starting with the Wave 1 figures and moving on to the comic packs and the vehicles. This area will grow as more is added by me, your humble webmaster, and by you, the loyal reader.

Xamot & Tomax - Crimson Guard Commanders and GI Joes Headache

The Crimson Guard Commanders are a unique pair and a ruthless adversary to the GI Joes team. These two are known for being very intelligent manipulators.

Xamot and Tomax earned command of the elite Crimson Guard giving them access to and the ability to manipulate political institutions, corporate boardrooms and financial markets. Now, that is a dangerous list of items that these two have the ability to get into.

GI Joes Crimson Guard Commander

Imagine, a pair of individuals able to manipulate a large financial market such as the oil field and energy market. They would be able to skyrocket prices and then go in and manipulate the government agency that is responsible for maintaining these things to simply look the other way. Hmmmm… wait a minute…

These two GI Joes enemies are known for finishing each other’s sentences. They are like mirror images of each other. The only distinguishing difference is the fact that Xamot has a scar on his cheek and Tomax does not.

These two come in the comic pack, “Bad Day at the Circus”. This comic was a good read and will give you a brief understanding of the role that these two, Tomax and Xamot, take in battling the GI Joe team.

I really like these two and think that this pair made an excellent GI Joes comic pack. I guess I will be coming up with a rating system for throwing out my two cents on the GI Joes action figures. I will be working on that so check back often.

Now for the good stuff. My GI Joes images of Tomax and Xamot, the Crimson Guard Commanders

The Mercenary Destro and His Elite Trooper Iron Grenadier - Lookout Cobra Commander

This has got to be the best GI Joes Destro that I have seen yet. I did not like a few of the other 25th anniversary edition Destros because of the skinny legs that were designed on the action figure. The thigh-high heavy pirate looking boots rendered that problem for me on this GI Joes action figure.

This particular GI Joes Destro action figure represents Destro as a once major supplier of advanced weapons and vehicles and advisor to the Cobra Commander. At this point, he has created his own army of Iron Grenadiers to carry out his plans.

Destro’s loyalty sways back-and-forth in serving Cobra Commander and his desire to remove this incompetent from command of the Cobra forces.

The Iron Grenadiers is an awesome group of adversaries to the GI Joes teams, and according to the comic book that comes with this comic pack, Move and Countermove, they are also a nuisance for the Cobra Commander as well.

The Iron Grenadiers are trained to infiltrate an area and spread chaos and panic creating a need and desire for arms, which Destro supplies, of course. This is not a good thing for the GI Joes teams.

The Iron Grenadiers are also Destro’s main force for his plans to take over the Cobra outfit. Very ambitious Mr. Destro.

I must say that this Destro did come out very nicely. But, again, I find the skinny legs problem with this Iron Grenadier. I’m really bothered by this as I really like the black and red paint job on this trooper. I am definitely adding these two GI Joes figures to my collection, but it was absolutely because of Destro.
