Background:
I guess I’ve always been a GI Joe fanatic going back to when I was very young and browsing through the toy aisle of every store my parents entered in hopes of conning them into buying me a GI Joe. I never grew out of that.
With all my interest in GI Joe, I figured I would give it a go myself. Maybe these GI Joe fantasies could become a reality for me. Maybe I could lead a team of G.I.s into combat someday. So, I signed up for the United States Army and made my way to Ft. Benning, GA for basic training and advanced infantry training. I did pretty well with the pea-shooter (rifle) and was chosen to take part in a program called OSUT, or something like that.
This program was a new idea to send fresh basic training and advanced infantry school graduates to US Army Sniper School at Harmony Church Georgia. No, Harmony Church is not a religious facility. It is a nasty little area where the Army trains Rangers and Snipers.
I was basically an alternate for Sniper school from my basic training class. I was only to go if one of the actual troops chosen couldn’t make it. A strange thing happened, by the time we graduated basic, all of the chosen troops were sick of training and went straight to their units. That left me and one other alternate who were off to Army Sniper School.
I graduated, barely.
So, during the tail end of Desert Storm, I deployed, with my unit, to Kuwait where I participated as an Army sniper. Good stuff.
After my 3 year Army stint. I decided to reenter the civilian world and found my way into law enforcement; which is what I’ve done for the last 11 years.
So, by day, I patrol for bad guys, by night, I play with my GI Joe toys. Don’t tell anyone.
These days I find myself diving into Internet stuff. I love building websites and toying with Internet business. So, with these things in mind, I’ve decided to venture out and take on the development of a GI Joe Internet empire. Ok, maybe just a blog for now. But who knows where this could go. Right?
Oh well, enough dreaming and talking about me. Let me get back to blogging.
