GI Joes Operation Flaming M.O.T.H. Frag-Viper & Night-Viper - Jungle Theater

I put a few hours into adding the Operation Flaming M.O.T.H. GI Joes action figures to the GI Joes store section of the blog. This took a bit of time because I took a slew of pictures and wanted to include them in the sale section.

GI Joes Night-ViperI took several pictures of the GI Joes Operation Flaming M.O.T.H. Jungle Theater and want to dig into these GI Joes figures a bit. I liked the remake of these quite a bit and I in my humble opinion, I think the Master Collectors group that do these repaints did an excellent job.

Let’s begin with the GI Joes Cobra Night-Viper. This was one of the far better Cobra figures when it was released in 1989. I had this action figure at one time and really liked it. I can’t tell you how much havoc Night-Viper wreaked on my team of GI Joes.

Let’s take a side-by-side look at the original 1989 Night-Viper and the 2006 repainted Night-Viper. I’m torn on these two but I guess I still may lean a bit to the original. I am not knocking the repaint, it is very good.

I really like the accessories of the GI Joes Night-Viper action figure.

  • Scope that fits the detachable visor.
  • Rifle that snaps onto the thigh.
  • Backpack that appears to have the butt of a knife sticking out.

GI Joes Frag-ViperAnother great looking GI Joes action figure from 1989 was Frag-Viper. He was known as the Cobra grenade thrower; which is a pretty neat concept that a real-world infantry unit could ponder over.

I do like this repaint better than the original version on this particular GI Joes action figure. However, I really liked the original as well.

Let me lay out the list of accessories that came with the original and I will also add the accerrories included in the repaint.

  • A grenade hurling basket known as a “cesta”.
  • Submachine gun
  • Three hand grenades with the original, two with the repaint.
  • The backpack to which the hose attaches.
  • Hose
  • The original also came with a hose used to attach the cesta to the backpack, I think.
  • The repaint also includes a hand held automatic grenade launcher with a grenade drum.
  • The repaint also has a satchel with a long strap for carrying items.

Here are a couple of images of the two GI Joes action figures to include the original 1989 Frag-Viper and the 2006 Frag-Viper repaint.

All of these figures, both repaints and original GI Joes were some of the better of their times. I’ve included below a few more images for you viewing pleasure. I had some free time with the camera and decided to go crazy on GI Joes images. Enjoy!
